Appendix Two - Student Questionnaire

To discover how sixth form students feel about their own learning, I asked my A Level students to complete a short questionnaire, providing comments on their perceptions of how they learn. The results of the questionnaire are below:

Q8- In Sidmouth College's sixth form, who would you say holds the power in determining what and how you learn?

The teacher can teach me the stuff I need to know but in order to fully understand and be able to develop the information, I need to put in extra care and energy into my education
6/13/2016 3:56 PM
I'd say all 3 but mostly teachers and yourself
6/13/2016 3:17 PM
To a certain extent I do believe that the student determines what they learn as if they don't attend lessons they're choosing not to learn anything at all. However, if a student were to be motivated and attended all lessons then the teacher takes the control as they ultimately choose what to teach and how to teach the curriculum

Q9- Thinking about all of your A Level subjects holistically, how often do you:

Depends on the subject, I'm more likely to ask questions in philosophical subjects

6/22/2016 12:38 PM
practical work
6/22/2016 12:37 PM
I could be better with time management cause im rubbish
6/22/2016 12:35 PM
More activities to get thoughts rolling etc
6/13/2016 3:56 PM
Revision at an earlier stage
6/13/2016 3:17 PM
If each subject were to organise the way, and time, in which they teach their students through working together I believe it would put less stress on students which would give them more time to focus on their studies. For example; some AS/A level students could have two massive pieces of coursework in for two different subjects and each teacher is ignoring the fact that the student's' schedule is full which results in students becoming stressed and unmotivated which causes a bad attitude to be developed towards not only their subjects but also their education.
